On\u00a0Friday 25 September, researchers from the SALBIS Research Group,\u00a0Gema Serrano Gemes, N\u00e9stor Serrano Fuentes and Natalia Calvo Ayuso, took part in the\u00a0European Researchers\u2019 Night\u00a0with the outreach activity\u00a0\u2018Journey into the World of Textures\u2019<\/em>, held in the\u00a0cafeteria of the Ponferrada Campus of the University of Le\u00f3n\u00a0from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.<\/p>\n

The activity aimed to raise public awareness of the importance of\u00a0food texture for people living with dysphagia. Through a sensory-based experience,\u00a0Gema Serrano Gemes, N\u00e9stor Serrano Fuentes and Natalia Calvo Ayuso, researchers from the SALBIS Research Group working in the fields of health and nutrition, invited participants to explore how different textures can transform the experience of eating and to gain a better understanding of the difficulties that people with dysphagia may encounter while eating. Under the motto\u00a0\u2018There are realities we can only truly understand when we dare to experience them\u2019, the activity approached science communication from a participatory and experiential perspective.<\/p>\n

The participation of SALBIS researchers in the\u00a0European Researchers\u2019 Night\u00a0contributes to strengthening the\u00a0dissemination and transfer of scientific knowledge, bringing research in the fields of health and nutrition closer to society and highlighting the interdisciplinary nature of the group.<\/p>\n
