The SALBIS Research Group featured prominently at the patron saint\u2019s day celebrations at the Esp\u00edritu Santo School in Ponferrada. The keynote speaker, Pilar Marqu\u00e9s, who is also the head researcher at SALBIS, addressed more than 200 children and young people, speaking about her passion for science. In her message, she emphasised the importance of hard work, daily improvement, curiosity and creativity.
\nDuring her speech, she thanked each of the nuns and teachers who had influenced her career in one way or another. She also spoke of her moments of rebellion and the consequences. In this regard, she shared with the audience that bravery always teaches us: when we make mistakes, to pick ourselves up; and when we achieve success, to enjoy and share it.
\nCreating science is very rewarding because we identify what others need and offer solutions to improve people\u2019s well-being. Is there anything greater than that?
\nMarqu\u00e9s set the young people a task: Bravery and responsibility.<\/p>\n
