{"id":5780,"date":"2019-02-18T09:10:02","date_gmt":"2019-02-18T08:10:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.salbis.es\/?p=5780"},"modified":"2019-02-16T15:40:52","modified_gmt":"2019-02-16T14:40:52","slug":"introductory-course-in-social-network-analysis-ars-and-ucinet-february-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.salbis.es\/en\/2019\/02\/18\/introductory-course-in-social-network-analysis-ars-and-ucinet-february-2019\/","title":{"rendered":"Introductory Course in Social Network Analysis (ARS) and UCINET, February 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last week, on Tuesday 12 February 2019 and Wednesday 13 February 2019, an <strong>Introductory Course on Social Network Analysis (SNA) and UCINET<\/strong> was given as a training action within the Teacher Training Programme of the University of Le\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>In this course, our colleagues\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salbis.es\/team\/natalia-arias-ramos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Natalia Arias Ramos<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.salbis.es\/team\/jose-alberto-benitez-andrades\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jos\u00e9 Alberto Ben\u00edtez Andrades<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salbis.es\/team\/enedina-quiroga-sanchez\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Enedina Quiroga S\u00e1nchez<\/a>, wanted the students who attended the course to succeed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Knowing what social networks are and what a Social Network Analysis is.<\/li>\n<li>Knowing the different types of existing social networks.<\/li>\n<li>Learning how to apply SNA to research.<\/li>\n<li>Knowing different SNA tools and learn how to use UCINET in a practical way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The contents imparted were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction to Social Network Analysis (what it is) and justification for its application.<\/li>\n<li>Explanation of the different types of existing social networks.<\/li>\n<li>Show how SNA can be applied to research, showing real case studies.<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to different existing tools for carrying out ARS.<\/li>\n<li>Realization of practical cases with the UCINET tool: matrices, binarization of data, analysis, compatibility with EXCEL, data graphing, etc.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>At the end of this month, a more advanced course in Social Network Analysis will be given in Ponferrada.
