SALBIS takes part in Expociencia León 2026 together with the VR in Health Sciences group
On March 3rd, 4th, and 5th, researcher David Bermejo Martínez (SALBIS Research Group) took part in Expociencia León 2026, the major science outreach event held at León’s Exhibition Centre.
In this edition, SALBIS joined the activities of the VR in Health Sciences group, an interdisciplinary team with whom we share a common goal: bringing science closer to the public in a practical, rigorous, and accessible way. The experience was a great success, with very high participation and an excellent response from attendees throughout the three days. During the event, three outreach workshops were delivered:
- Virtual Reality (VR) workshop: participants were able to explore the human body in 3D and even “enter” it, understanding structures and systems in an immersive and educational way.
- Comparative osteology workshop: a comparison of bone anatomy between humans and other species, using real osteological specimens to observe similarities, differences, and adaptations.
- Vitamin C and antioxidant capacity experimental workshop: participants tested firsthand which source provided the highest vitamin C content and how it relates to antioxidant capacity.
From SALBIS, we would like to express our sincere thanks to the VR Health group for their warm welcome and the shared work. It has been a pleasure to collaborate in such an enriching environment, and we look forward to continuing to build joint projects for many years to come.
